counting on the Lord

I am counting on the Lord; yes I am counting on Him, I am trusting in His word. Psalm 130:5 Today I am stepping out on air, and trusting the Lord. I am going on a holiday with my granddaughter. To date God has provided for all the costs. Wth little to spare I am stepping out trusting Him to cover all. We are travelling to Cairns, and being ensconced on an Island for 5 days snorkelling. I can really take that! I have pushed hard to have my exams and assignments up to date, and am taking my books along for a little light reading. Ha ha! Lord go before us, keep us, and delight us with Your presence! Amen!

Those in need

“But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Yesterday I discovered that our local hospital is overflowing due to a large number of elderly waiting for a placement in a nursing home . I know one of those is a woman who’s husband in his 90s put his wife there because she has early stages of dementia. My elderly friend who is 79 is her sister.  My friend is troubled about her sister being in hospital and the fact that the sister wants to go home or to stay with her. Our country has a problem with aged care being available. I had three aunts go into aged care and my mother who stayed with first my brother, then me.  Our family was keen to care for our mum. However, if dementia was a problem things would have been different. I can only give emotional support to my friend. She will need it now until her sister passes away as watching a loved one go through dementia must be difficult. All of my family ...

Faith’s reality

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Faith sees what our natural eyes cannot see. It is a tool of the Spirit. It is a navigator. It homes in on the promise of God’s word in our heart. Gods word is it’s fuel. Much like a homing missile but much better. It is not destructive but the bringer of life. It is important that we know how to work with faith. Seeing the promise does not allow us to race impatiently towards it. There is a process, a journey towards it and it’s fulfilment. It is almost like a quest or a treasure hunt. You follow the clues along the way and the hunt develops patience, persistence and determination in our hearts. At the same time the patience teaches us to hear and know God and His ways. His ways are holy and true. They can be trusted and must not be replaced with our immaturity and impatience. The result is peace. Enjoy!

faith

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 NLT Faith is a bank deposit in the spirit. It gains interest as we use it. Its growth depends on us exercising it. We walk the Christian life in faith towards God. We believe that our salvation is real and not a myth as non-believers call it. As we exercise our faith in this we grow in the knowledge of God. Our faith has babies as new endeavours and visions are born, and our faith grows now as a family. There is also a gift of faith, given by the Holy Spirit for special Spirit moments. I have experienced such faith. It is an amazing deposit that causes you to do great exploits, and believe for amazing things. Hebrews 11 lists the names of people who have stepped out in faith. They have done an amazing array of things,  faith is bold  and not faint of heart. Enjoy the adventure of faith today. Amen!

Listen

“Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Do you have trouble listening? Are you too consumed with your life? Or are you able to hear heart cries? Today after church I was waiting for a coffee when I saw a young woman who was obviously troubled. She was with her mother and grandmother. I started speaking to the grandmother and asked questions. I discovered that the young girl is troubled, and has received counselling and much help, but it did not show. I told the grandmother about my daughter at that age and the troubled times she went through as well, but that Gid brought her through. The grandmother was impressed that I could see the problem. I thought blind Freddie would see it, but perhaps not. I have had an interesting weekend filled to overflowing with people. Today I was taken to lunch for my birthday next week, and when I returned home I h...

clear the way

Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Isaiah 40:3 NLT This is an interesting scripture. It applies to the return of the exiles back to Jerusalem, but more importantly for the coming of Jesus. John the Baptist was one who prepared the 'Way of the Lord' by baptising people, and preaching repentance from sin. It applies even now as we seek a fresh outpouring of God on our land. It applies to us personal to a call back to our first love with Christ and dedication to Him, as before. Yesterday one of Australia's States had an election, and one of the most godless governments was voted back into power. The people of Victoria have showed their colours, and the people of God need to take notice. This particular state has the worst abortion laws, the worst LBQT laws and is set against Christian schools. Where is the church in all this? The church was putting forward re...

Blessing others with the gospel

“‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6‬:‭24‬-‭26‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I am  at a Christmas party at Church and we had some interesting line dances . The compère and his crew were unchurched. We invited them to eat with us, which they did. I had an interesting conversation with a lady who had once wanted to become a nun. I told her about the reality of Jesus and offered to help her with a bible study, which she had indicated she might like. I invited her to church and suddenly she was ‘not religious’. I can only pray God used our conversation to speak to her heart. The Lord wants to bless people and bring them into a relationship with Him. May this lady find the truth. Amen!

priestly blessing

‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Numbers 6:24‭-‬26 NLT This blessing is ancient when you consider when it was given. The Lord here was instructing Aaron, the newly appointed High Priest, to use it to bless God 's people. Since this time it must have been spoken a multitude of times. Have you ever used it? I remember a pastor using it every dedication of a new baby to the Lord. Personally I have not used it on a regular basis. However, if God gave it to be used, I am sure He meant for it to be used. I often end a message or email with 'blessings'. Perhaps, without realising it, I am using a condensed version of the prayer. Praying blessing over people is much better than 'yours sincerely', or 'kind regards' as these are both about my intentions, whereas 'blessings' is about divine intentions. The words we use can bless or curse. Use words...

whenever

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. Galatians 6:10 NLT Doing good can mean we become involved when our inclination is to not bother. This morning I was walking my dog, not particularly wanting to but praying in the spirit the whole time. As I was returning to my street I saw a man with a backpack veer into a now vacant premises and it appears he was out of bounds.  I went to the house, and waited for him to reappear. I asked whT he was doing. He said he wanted to buy a house like the one in question. I said, "well this is sold, and not available". He said it was no harm to look and walked off. My problem with the man was the way he entered the property, the way he spoke and how he turned around, and walked back up my street entering a neighbours house. He was a stranger, and he was in no way able to afford $600,000 plus for the house in question. He was snooping.  We have had a lot of break-ins...

doing good

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. Galatians 6:10 NLT Doing good is only possible if we carry a mindset of goodwill towards all. There was a time when a negative poisonous monkey would crawl on my back and I would be set against others. I had to tell that monkey where to go.  We must examine our thoughts. If they are negative towards others, fault-finding, wicked or even lustful, pull them down and refuse them space. Once free of the spirit of condemnation you can be free to explore how God would have you think, and allow Him to inspire good works towards others. You will be amazed!

all You have done

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. Psalms 9:1 NLT If we take a trip into the wilds, camp and gaze at the night sky we are soon filled with wonder of a God who created this earth just for us. Even taking time to sit and watch the sun set or sit in the cool of the garden, all speak volumes of His goodness to us. Today has been heavy duty study again, but soon I will sit and watch God's glory. It is so important that I regIn focus. When feeling heavy or negative listening to Christian music brings clarity. We are blessed to be able to listen to music and read our bibles. We are blessed to have space to breathe in God's glory. Perspective and clarity help us focus on the important things. God is good! Take time to focus and gain life. Amen!

I will praise the Lord

Image
I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. Psalms 9:1 NLT Nature knows how to praise the Lord. In spring trees and bushes blossom in all their glory. We who know the Lord have a deposit of glory within, with this we praise the Lord and give glory to His name. Our Lord fills us with His joy, as we trust in Him and give Him praise He lifts us up. No matter how we feel, if tired or unwell, as we praise we are lifted up. Amen!

goodness and mercy

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23:6 NLT Have you ever been followed by a yapping dog? Or worse still a dangerous animal? This engender fear. However, to be followed by goodness and mercy, wow! It is like having a train of favour behind you. If goodness and mercy are following us, surely they are embodied in a person, and they are, Jesus Christ,  The Holy Spirit and the Father, plus the whole host of heaven. Now that is a double wow! As opposed to fear, the sense when being followed by goodness is pleasure, favour and joy! Now, why would you not want to be followed by these?

pursued

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23:6 NLT The Song of Songs is a love song between two lovers and written by King Solomon, the greatest lover of all. Many compare this with God's loving pursuit of us, His bride. Its a good read. It brings to light the passion and longing that two lovers can have for each other.  If God loves us passionately can we not love Him in return in a like manner? What would our lives look like if we did? Remember when you first came to be found by your lover, remember the passion and adoration. Keep it fresh, court it. Amen!

joy, joy deep in my soul

Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. Psalms 119:2 NLT Searching for the Lord with all our hearts is the criteria for joy! If we are half-hearted we receive a mediocre result.  The Lord is looking for those who will search for Him with all their hearts. Did you ever play hide and seek with a child. They are determined to find you and will not give up, unless you are too well hidden. The joy you have in the game hiding and waiting is enormous.  The Lord is the same. He is so delighted that we seek Him.

joy

What joy overwhelms everyone who keeps the ways of God, those who seek him as their heart’s passion! Psalms 119:2 TPT My joy comes from a different place. It is knowing Jesus is my goodness, my saviour, my righteousness.  I tried living and being good in myself, and failed.  So, sorry Psalmist not joyful! However, daily walking in my salvation with faith towards Jesus, makes me very joyful! Amen!

preach the gospel

And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Mark 16:15 NLT When we have a bargain we want to talk about it, when we have an amazing windfall we want to boast about it. When we have all our sins forgiven we need to tell the world the good news. We can be so intimidated so as to not share, if we allow it to happen. In the Law course I am studying I am finding prejudice against the church, Christian schools and Christians. The text book cites the unfairness that churches do not pay taxes and that Christian schools are given funds from the general coffers, and want to discriminate in who they employ, and what they teach. We are seen as users of the system, and not fair players. If this is allowed to rule us we will be marginalised, and placed in a corner. What is the answer? How about we go, trusting the Lord for opportunities. He will provide. Amen!

all the world

And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Mark 16:15 NLT All thr world resonates with me. I am a globalist when it comes to interests and passions. Whilst I share willingly with neighbours and friends locally I see places I wish to venture to and people I wish to talk to. As English becomes a dominant language it makes the whole world more accessible to us. This term at uni I am studying the writing systems of the world.  It helps with my focus, and fuels it. As I am on the homeward stretch I can see the eventuality of being free to travel. Praise God! Yet, even as I wait, nothing stops me from sharing my faith with all I know. It is good news indeed! Amen!

Gates and courts

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭100‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬ How do you enter a persons home, firstly through the gate.  A lot of homes have dogs, some have security gates. To enter you need an invitation or a friend on the inside. To make it into the courts, a royal place indeed, requires excellent credentials. To enter the gate of the king requires an invitation and    High credentials. Yet we are invited into the gates and courts of the king of kings. How is this possible? Someone paid the price for us to enter, a perfect price for all who choose to enter in. Jesus, the Son of God paid the price. He offered Himself as a perfect price. No one had ever been found good enough, no animal sacrifice ever was found enough, yet the Son of God was. Why are we invited through the gates of the King of kings let alone into His courts? Is He desperate for friends? Yes! He has a never-ending passion for fello...

thanksgiving

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalms 100:4 NLT Giving thanks for He is God, that He is with us and His marvellous salvation is right no matter what is going on. Circumstances may not be favourable, people may not be favourable but God is consistent. Eternity is always the prize. This past week I read of new Christians who had been tortured for their faith, and who were devastated because they believed God would rescue them from torture. That must have been very hard for them to bear. I do not have an answer but I do have prayer for their comfort. I read a book about a Christian who was jailed in Turkey because he was accused of wrongdoing,  when he was ministering to the Kurds. He struggled being in prison, and the experience destroyed him emotionally. Again, I do not have an answer but I can pray. I know that when I have treated unfairly I praise the Lord for His goodness and His outcome. It does not stop...

He loves all

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Proverbs 17:17 NLT I have a most loyal friend, my dog Oscar.  Recently we had a young woman and her dog live with us for a few months. They left to go to their own unit on Thursday. Oscar and the other dog Ollie played constantly. I thought he might miss the companionship. However, he is back to me and loving it. I appreciate it as well. Jesus has many He calls friend, but we are not left out. He treats us as if we are the only ones. If we seek Him, He is there. Not many seek Him as if their life depends on Him, so He appreciates those who do. Remember John 15 says: abide in Me and I will abide in you. If we stay put we benefit. This morning, whilst walking, Oscar dragged me to see a woman I did not notice. I was able to share Christ with her because she asked me why I was always joyful. I told her. She asked questions and seemed interested. As I left I asked the Lord to use the bits of our conversation that m...

a friend is loyal

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Proverbs 17:17 NLT What sort of friend is always loyal? Today we tend to call new acquaintances a friend or even people we connect with on Facebook perhaps. However, what is a real friend? A friend is someone who has your heart. Someone who prays for you, someone who loves you not for what you can do for them, but that they have a love for you. I have a few such friends. I also have 3 brothers and 2 sisters who have travelled some hard yards with me, especially with our mother in her last days. Yet, the best friend I have is Jesus. He is the best! He is always there for me. I may not feel His presence but He is there. Some of my friends live far away and cannot be there for me, some are close at hand. My family but 1, live in distant parts of Australia and one lives in the Philippines. Jesus is everywhere and I am grateful! So grateful!

the good and perfect gift

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17 NLT This was written by James the brother of Jesus. Jesus was the most perfect gift given from above, yet, for the longest time James was one who was offended by His sudden divinity. Jesus must have been a typical brother.  I don't know how it escaped James that Jesus did not sin, perhaps he thought Him to be  goody-two-shoes, or some such. Imagine growing up with the Son of God. I wonder what Jesus' sisters thought? Did they suspect? I can only speculate, until I meet them.  Jesus was the eldest.  I am the eldest. Having two other sisters I understand rivalry and jealousy. One of my sisters was too young to care, I am 9 years older, the other did, ferociously so. The oldest has more responsibility but usually this comes with benefits. I went to the movies by myself, had a boyfriend first, lea...

stepping into calling

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17 NLT We can so easily blame God for our problems or lack of a perfect environment, being selfish by nature. From early life when we are first born we know how to wail when things are not good.  If we are not trained in godly behaviour,  but rather spoiled by our parents, we demand and continue to demand our version of perfection. Yet, the Son of God came into a world so vastly different from His perfect home with the Father. He submitted to earthly, imperfect parents, grew up with imperfect siblings and friends. He is our example. He took the mess and turned it into heaven on earth. By stepping into His calling Jesus changed the earth. We can do the same. By stepping into our sonship we can bring to mankind the answers. Amen!

pray for those who hurt you

Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. Luke 6:28 NLT Those who hurt us may delight in doing so, they may do it not realising, or do it because they are basically selfish. Being continually hurt and needing to forgive, continually,  can be challenging, especially at times when all we need is a hug or a kind word. May are the stories of those who have been hurt. I read of a woman who was locked away by her father for wanting to marry a man he did not approve of. Being locked away could be very painful indeed, as is torture and sexual abuse.  I knew I woman who was sexually abused by her father and bore him 3 children. The hardest thing was her mother saw, and knew, and did nothing. Eventually the woman and her children escaped, and she married a loving man. Constantly we must remind ourselves God has a better plan and in faith seek that plan. He said in His word: the plans I have for you are to give you a future and a hope ( Jer 29:11). We can trust Him for that...

bless and not curse

Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. Luke 6:28 NLT A curse is a negative reaction to the acts of a person or group of people. If we pull back from reacting, and pray instead, we bring God into the situation where He was absent before. Conversely, if we react in the flesh we allow Satan to be present and we know he comes to rob, kill, and destroy. Discipling ourselves to choose life and godliness is an effort but one that pays dividends, godly blessing. Refusing to react in the negative Is good for our character, remember the scripture says that when our endurance ( development of character) is fully developed we will be mature and complete, lacking in nothing(James 1:4)

His presence

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” John 14:21 NLT Jesus revealing Himself to his disciples did not stop any suffering they encountered, it just made it bearable knowing He was there. Today as we go through the fire, and the waters He is there, and if we really want to see Him He will reveal Himself and His glory.  Each day I pray for those who suffer for their faith that the Lord would hold them close and reveal Himself to them, and baptise them with fire and authority to do great signs and wonders on His behalf. Knowing that we are not alone is important, it strengthes us. Having the Lord's presence makes all conflict and trial diminish in size. He is good! Amen!

keeping God's commands

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” John 14:21 NLT Can you see what I see? The promise that is part of this statement? It is not just a reminder to keep Jesus' commands but a promise: the Father will love us, Jesus will love us and reveal Himself, His nature, His glory to us. If we live in vital union with Him, as in He is our righteousness. We are not self-righteous, then we will see how good He can be to us. My salvation does not depend on me. It depends on Christ,  His sacrifice, His purity, His life, not mine. I am not good enough without Him, but with Him I am a beloved child of God and all heaven is open to me. Amen!

The Millennium

“All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭60‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Again I am drawn to the millennial appeal of this text. When Jesus comes to rule on the earth for 1000 years Satan will be locked up. Imagine a world where there is no tempter.  It will be a very interesting time. People will still have a sin nature and need to receive Jesus as the saviour, I wonder how much easier it will be? Will some still want to walk in their carnal flesh and turn away from Jesus ? I imagine so otherwise why would the same scripture in Revelation say that when Satan is let loose he is able to go and stir up hatred for Jesus and amass to fight with Him at Armageddon? It bears reflection! If Adam and Eve who were pure and sinless could be tempted how much easier will be sinful mankind? I also wonder what living under Jesus’ rule will be like. Scripture says that the rulers of the earth will come regularly to meet with Him, so, obviously the countries of ...

your light

All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance. Isaiah 60:3 NLT This verse is one out of a chapter full of a prophesy to Jerusalem and God's people. Verse 4 speaks of children returning home to Jerusalem. Since 1948 when Israel was once again established this has been the case. Now, as anti-semitism is on the rise I expect more will go to Israel as it will be the only safe place. I can say safe as even though the world has turned against Israel in the UN, God has not.  We are approaching the end times and there is coming the confrontation between God, through Israel, and many of the nations of the world. The UN want to force Israel to accept the Palestine people on the Gaza Strip as a nation yet they were plants by the Arabs back in the early days. These people were left there by the Arabs and not assisted. A cruel thing for them to do. Britain wanted to give Israel Jordan as well after the Second World War  but because of all the fuss from th...

not like other gods

The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. Psalms 103:19 NLT Have you ever made a travel booking via Wotif? Often flights and accommodation are a packaged affair. Some time ago  the flight carrier contacted me to change my flight. Weeks later my itinerary on the Wotif Ap had not changed. I was wanting surety that all was in order. A call to Wotif went to the Philippines.my first call was unsuccessful, I was able to find the information I needed by a simple Google search and so I said goodbye. The next call was to confirm the changed flight. This time I was connected to a young man who was switched on, praise God. When we contact heaven imagine going through such a lengthy process with beings who were not fully cognisant of all the facts. Ahhhh! Praise God we are able to go right through to Pappa Daddy every time. I am soon grateful!!! Father God has many children but He is not limited with His ability to handle mass calls at the same time. Praise...

the heavens

The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. Psalms 103:19 NLT A lot of people imagine that heaven is way out there is space somewhere, we may be surprised to see where it actually is when we die. During the Toronto outpouring I had a revelation that heaven was right here, in another dimension. I could step forward, expectantly, and be there. I saw the throne room of God whilst in worship. It was a wonderful time. Since then I have know how close it really is. As an astronomer I have watched the extent of the discovery of the universe and the theories that abound.  One image of the universe showed it to be like  brain. I postulated that we were in the mind of the Lord. Highly possible but unproven. I am looking forward to being there. Nonetheless, we are His workmanship. He has made us, we are His. Amen!

Sharing

Don’t forget to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. Hebrews  13:16 Needs can be spiritual as well as physical.  Today I had the joy of doing a Sunday School class for my little nieces. We had such fun. The joy of learning for my nieces blessed me and drew out of me God’s truth in His word. Today the girls learned about sin. We discussed what it was in its various forms. We used play dough, played games and used the Uversion childrens ap.  Tonight I am having dinner with the opposite end of the spectrum, a woman who is approaching 80. She is also spiritually poor. As a child of God we have rivers of living water at our disposal, why not cal on them and change lives. Amen!

those in need

And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. Hebrews 13:16 NLT Sacrifices that please God are those made for the good of others. It is not as much fasting  or giving up a personal privilege, unless this sacrifice is in order to use that sacrificed for the good of others. One of the biggest sacrifices for me is dying to personal preferences in my home. Taking in a person who is not clean challenges my preference for cleanliness. It is probably a good challenge as it keeps me flexible, and not too fussy. For some it is giving up the money they would use for a weekly meal out, and eating st home instead. For others in might be spending less on self to be able to give to the poor. We westerners need to think this one through. Who is God wanting you to help?

heavenly thoughts

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:2 NLT What is important in heaven? The Lord! His thoughts! His plans! His opinion! So, forget about the thoughts, plans and opinions of others, unless they are in a godly union with you. Think about reaching the lost! Think about being a blessing! Jesus  is the best! His ways and purposes are the best! Amen!

a heavenly perspective

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. Colossians 3:1‭-‬4 NLT The whole of this chapter is a very good read, I encourage you to read it and let it sink in. However, for this part we deal with right perspective. If we are watching heavily things we will not be caught up in carnal appetites and attitudes.  Last night I had dinner and played a game with a friend. We discussed the millennial period, dying in Christ and whether we go straight to be with the Lord or sleep somewhere in between. The reason for this is my friend had had a visit from a Seventh Day Adventist. We also discussed whether most people live in their emotions,  whi...

justice

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10 NLT Sometimes I wish one of the gifts is a boxing glove. People do manage to irritate at times. However, I must be mindful that it works both ways.  There are times when I deserve a smack in the head (preferable with  an empty sock). I am so grateful to Jesus for His wisdom.  Just as you judge others you will be judged. What you sow you reap. Unfortunately, or fortunately, justice is the Lords to meter out, not me. He sees what I do not see,  deep inside praise Him! Amen

gifts

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10 NLT Each of us has a gift, even if it is sensing the need to listen to a friend experiencing grief, excitement, angst. Being able to cope with this need in others takes grace. If we are also sensitive to the Holy Spirit we will receive a word of knowledge or wisdom, we may even impart faith or pray for healing. It starts with a willingness to listen. Listening to God and people is what it is about. God has answers, gifts to give. We can be the vessel. Amen!

He answered me

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. Psalms 34:4‭-‬5 NLT He answers! He comes through. It may not be with the answer you want, however, it will be an answer.  Job had a lot of questions of the Lord, but when God showed up He asked Job questions that help put everything into perspective. God's perspective is the best, it always brings freedom and life.  Today I had a lecture on hieroglyphics. We had a lot of questions and the tutor, knowledgeably, answered them in a way that explained the process of writing in hieroglyphs rather than the 'but why' questions so  many had. I appreciate a knowledgeable teacher. This is what our God is. Trust His answers! They are best!

all fears

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. Psalm 34:4,5 Some of the things we fear, we did not know about until we meet them, like going for a ride on a particular showride. Thereafter we vow not to go on it again. Some people find being closed in a tight space (as a MRI tunnel) fearful. I am not fussed on it but sing to myself in the spirit the whole time. I also am not fussed with going down into mines underground. However, ordinary things like not enough money, relationships breaking down can cause angst. Note the scripture says, from all my fears, not just some. We must come to a place of trust. What does God's word say?. Jesus said, “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the K...

what sort of friend are you?

Image
Show deep love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.1Peter 4:8 Have you thought about what a mtitude of sins means for you,  you family and friends? How much is a multitude? What are these sins? My study bible says that this multitude of sins,  basically mean having to have a forgiving nature. I am sure there are definitely some sins you should step away from. If a person is deliberately abusing you, children, old people, in fact anyone, you should step away from them. However, we are called to forgive, because it is good and healthy for us. I have a friend who I wonder why we are still friends, however, the Lord wills it so. This friend is difficult, and obtuse at times, but at other times very gracious and generous. This friend needs a friend like me, one who speaks truth.  What sort of friend are you called to be?

love deeply

Image
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 NLT Lovimg deeply also means we can be hurt deeply, however, it is the way of the cross. Only deep love can forgive and cover a multitude of sins. Last night we had a blood moon. It reminded me of how the pure sinless Christ was slain for our sins. Later in the night I was up to let my dog out and saw the moon shining in all its glory, it had risen again from the grave.  Jesus our redeemer knew the hearts of mankind but did not refuse to associate with people, however, He did not give Himself fully to such people. Did it mean He did not love them, no! I believe He still loved them but did not let them take from Him who He was. He still died for all mankind. Even Peter tried to correct Jesus for choosing to go to the cross. Peter was acting carnally.  We do not let people deter us from the path we must travel. Amen!

trustworthy

Image
All the instructions of the Lord are perfect reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7 I am currently studying Egyptian hieroplyphs, written thousands of years ago. The above table gives some meanings of the symbols. Now, to take for gospel that these symbols are 100% accurate requires faith. Yet, most would accept that they are. However, many dispute the accuracy of scripture. I am sure a sin-based attitude refutes the truth without reason and accepts the foolish without reason. In other words sin is unreasonable. As I know the One who orchestrated the writing of scripture I can say I see Him everywhere within it. Jesus is the golden tread all throughout the Old Testament and presented bodily in the New. The scripture is my food and drink. I need it more than food. It challenges me, comforts me, revives me, heals me. My God's promises enthrall me. He is so good! Amen!

fixed eyes

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3 NLT I remember being told, when learning to ride a motorbike, 'do not fix your eyes on the trees or you will hit them.' This is the same in all of life. What we fix our eyes on, good or bad, we will achieve. Some think by watching the mark they wish to avoid, they will miss it, not so, they will hit it. Many things scream for our attention.  Anxieties trouble us, stomp and shriek.  However, centering ourselves on Jesus gets us through.  He is steadfast, He is the rock.  Jesus gave us the communion celebration as a means of reminding us of His sacrifice, His redemption, He faced the worst for us. His word teaches us, He is steadfast and good, He is our anchor. Amen!

instructions

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalms 19:7 NLT Are you one of those people who refuses to read instructions unless your attempt to use an item or construct an item fails? There are many of you if you are one. Why does this happen? Because people are more self-willed and determined than obedient and compliant. If we take this approach to the word of God we are in trouble. God's ways are His and perfect, we are not. 'I can't be bothered,' is often heard. Yet if we be bothered we will succeed. I remember well my son's sons construction of Lego. Two of the boys followed the Instructions patiently,  two didn't.  The two that did constructed some beautiful creations, two were frustrated. One of those who didn't was dyslexic and could not read properly, one was autistic, he did not have the emotional balance to be slow and methodical. God instructed His people to know His...

All of God

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalms 19:7 NLT If only we trusted God's words instead of our own understanding! There is life in the words of God, nowhere else. No food or drink or entertainment or holiday can revive the soul like God's word. His words are true and just. As Christians we can be partakers in only His salvation and not His holiness, His divine character. It is the whole parcel that changes us not our knowledge of the good. If we live out of the knowledge of Him we are still living out of the worng source, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We are powerless when we source our life in knowledge, there is only self-gratification there. The whole counsel of God is what we need and we find that in relationship.  Amen!

not tired

Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due time we will receive a harvest of blessing if we do not give up. Gal 6:9 Today was interesting. I took time to meet with a lot of non-church people in various ways. Whilst I had been invited to a nice, safe afternoon with church people I chose the harder option  as it was the best option. I needed to light up the dark places. I prefer adventure to safety and I pray I always will. Jesus left a safe environment and occupation to a dangerous one that was way more fulfilling. So did the apostles, so will I. May Your kingdom come Lord, may your will be done! Amen!

getting tired?

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 NLT It is when we become tired that we stop trying to complete a degree, a simple sewing project, an exercise program, being faithful. Faithfulness requires endurance, endurance produces character, character empowers endurance. Therefore when we are tired we need to rest and give ourselves space to recover, without dropping the ball. Last night I went with family to a circus. To be a member of this particular circus you had to be very committed as you multitasked. You were required to be a juggler, a very precise motorbike rider, and in one case a clown it after the show attend the crowd leaving the venue with games and selling or showbags. They were a lean team, however the stress was showing as one young performer was bitterly complaining in our view as we exoted the venue. For him the challenge would be to be being committed.  For the Christi...

the food we need

Give us today the food we need, Matthew 6:11 NLT One of the temptations Jesus faced was after a 40 day fast was to create food. He was hungry. Satan tempted Him to turn rocks into bread. Jesus refused saying: man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the Father(Matt 4:4). Jesus knew ew the important food,  the word of God. Today I attended a high tea. A lot of small sandwiches along with cakes and pastries. We do not need all the pastries, in fact these are what kill us, too much sugar and fat. So what do we need? Many stories throughout the Old Testament show that mankind can survive on bread and water. It it not very nutritional by today's standards, however, it appears we can survive. We cannot survive without the word of God, not really survive. We are walking skeletons without a soul, that is all. God's word gives us life. Amen!

two better than one

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:8-12 We can understand the concept of two, back to back defending each other, however the finish can be a puzzle, except a Christian will recognise the third man in the middle is Jesus. God in Jesus, is the glue that holds all things together. For me, who God told to stay alone for as long as He determined, this has been hard. I have had to rely on Jesus to be my second and the Holy Spirit my third. It has worked but I have had to stay close and also rely heavily on fellowship in the body of Christ. My greatest concern has been decept...

new lands

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, Colossians 1:13 NLT We se people escaping from their lands because of war, famine and loss of income. We, as Christians,  were in the land of darkness and were rescued by Jesus. We were brought into His kingdom of light and freedom.  We have been saved from a life of sin. How good it is to be in a land of light and freedom. I have friends who escape from Nigeria where Christians are constantly being killed for their faith. These friends were at first fearful of being sent back because of their visas. Fortunately a university degree ensured that the mother was able to secure a new life for her husband and family by completing a nursing degree. We do not need to fear being cast out of the kingdom of God. There is nothing that will cause us to lose of citizenship, unless we walk away from it. Just as my Nigerian friends need to live as Australians now, we must live as kingdom b...

rescued

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, Colossians 1:13 NLT Oh! So grateful! Thank you Jesus! I still remember how dark my world was before Jesus spoke into my heart. It all changed in an instance as I repented and asked Jesus to be my saviour and Lord. So many are caught in darkness, so many need to find the light, and many will. Yet I watch those around me, where I live, still there. I pray for them and seek opportunities to speak to them.  Jesus is Lord! We lift Him up in our own lives and our communities and people see. May they see faithfulness and love, committment to a faithful Lord.  As we prepare for Christmas may we make an opportunity to see Jesus! Amen!

everything I need

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. Psalms 23:1‭-‬2 NLT Everything I need can be more than finance,  it can be relational. Emptiness and lonliness can be a hazard, it is for me at times, especially when I step into being out there for Jesus. My enemy turns others against me, usually those I have depended upon for love and support. However, as I follow Open Doors I am constantly kept mindful of those who lose all for Christ. I am cheered to read about a saint in China who was imprisoned for his faith in solitary confinement, so he preached Into his pit toilet in the corner, and won 96 souls to Christ. Now that is brave! I am so looking forward to meeting these saints in eternity.  Only Jesus is worth the pain! Amen!

lacking nothing

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. Psalms 23:1‭-‬2 NLT Our challenge is to believe we lack nothing when a car needs fixing or something goes wrong in our home etc. Will God provide is always the question? If we read historical accounts of God's provision,  we cans say yes! If we cast our minds back to all God's provisions, we can say Yes! Provision comes for areas God is involved in, not for lusts  or foolish pursuits.  Yesterday I was committed to having my dog clipped,  I did not have the surplus but went anyway. I was checking my bank account and noticed a deposit of $50. I was expecting a $4.50 refund but received $50. I contacted the depositor and was told it was a gift. Praise God! The money was there for the dogs haircut (this appears trivial but even in the having of a pet, God is there). Trust Him for the car!

glory

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. Romans 8:18 NLT We have no way of comprehending God's glory. We have a taste when we are surrounded by His presence,  it is glorious. However, always and forever being in it! Wow!  In God's glory all questions cease, there is utter contentment. Job found this. He had so many questions before God came, then they disappeared. It is as if he knew God has got this, and all would be ok, and it was. God restored all that had been stolen and more besides. I remember the day my mother had a stroke.  The Lord's presence was so strong on me, preparing me for what was about to happen. I was delighted thinking He was telling me church was going to be awesome that morning, as it was a Sunday. In heaven it won't be to prepare us for pain and suffering but rather it is who He is. Ah! Lord! You are good! I am so looking forward to it! Amen!

suffering

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. Romans 8:18 NLT This is hard to imagine, and must be taken by faith. There are many that suffer terribly at the hands of their oppressors. A revelation of God's plans and promises, by Him alone suffices. Our country is suffering terrible losses with continual storms. The waterways are over supplied, the dams over-full. I am safe as I live on a hill, many are not. There are many with nowhere to sleep as there are not enough available houses. Yet, there are empty houses where landlords use them for holiday rentals only. Inequity is everywhere. Yet, God has a plan. How would our God have us behave? He wants us to care for the lowly, give to the poor, bless those less fortunately, and live satisfied with enough, and not be greedy for gain. If Jesus was ruling this would be a part of the expected norms I am sure. I can allow Him to rule in my heart. Amen!
