A shield around me

“But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This verse comes from a Psalm of David. David wrote this when his son Absalon rose up against him to take the throne . He goes on to say ‘though 10,000 surround him on every side he will not be afraid. This is a confidence in the Lord we all need.

It reminds of the story when the king sent out his army against Elisha. His servant Gehazi was fearful but Elisha prayed that God would open his eyes to see the hills surrounding them filled with angels ready for war. Elisha did not fear but trusted God.

We need to find God when we have an onslaught of our enemy. I had one last night. He was determined to spoil my sleep with fear and anxiety. I concentrated on being thankful and controlling my thoughts.

If God be for me, who can be against me (Romans 8:31). Amen!
