Always with you

““Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This text seems to indicate that the hearers would go to be in heaven with Jesus. However, He sent His Holy Spirit so that we would be empowered and enabled to abide with Him, even whilst on earth. Yes we long for heaven, but we can have His presence here on earth. We cannot wait till heaven to be abiding with Him. If this is foreign to us then we will most likely struggle in heaven. I know that sounds like blasphemy, however, how can we assume to suddenly know how to live close when we have never done it. Something is missing here!

My dog is always with me in my house, yet when I go to church or out to visit a friend or go to the shops he stays behind. We cannot treat Jesus like a dog. In heaven He will be all, He will be our light, His glory will consume everything. We do not comprehend the enormity of His glory. When His glory descends, nothing else matters.

Make Him your everything! Amen!
