Two days ago I had coffee with an unsaved woman who said she was a fence sitter, because she had problems with the established church. Her background was that of a Catholic. I agreed with her, but pointed out that Jesus was the Way, the Truth and the Life. She told me that what I am about to do in Nepal spoke more to her than my words. In other words, she wanted to see action to faith.
James exhorts us to be doers of the word not heaters only. To move from being a hearer only requires intentionality and and love for the Lord that says: I will serve you and go wherever you want me to go. Whilst going to Nepal, Asia or Africa for that matter is not the only way, it can be staying here in Australia and serving in the community. Serving the Lord and putting Him first, is all that is needed. Serving the Lord usually includes action. This is what James is intimating. Action also shows itself as we lay down our own opinions for His. Amen!
