With song

“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.””Zephaniah‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As a parent and grandparent I relate to this sentence. Singing my babies to sleep, comforting them with song and just singing in delight at their presence are all what I share. To have this verse tell me God does this with me is hard to believe, but gratefully received.

To know God takes delight in me, just as I am, is gratifying. I do not have to perform in a certain way for His love. Scripture tells us: ‘but God showed His great love for us while we were yet sinners, He sent Christ to die for us’ (Roman’s 5:8)

I have just finished reading a true story about Polish Jews in the Second World War. There was a particular Doctor Korzcak who took in little children. He worked with traumatised youths who were hardened and loved them back to childhood. It was a sad but beautiful story. The Germans killed him and all the children in the gas chamber. When they were being led away to the train the whole community mourned in unbelief. Our Father’s love is like this towards us.

His love woos us back to His heart!
