“Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.””
Luke 2:13-14 NLT
There are many varieties of suddenly: suddenly accidents happen; an unexpected visitor is at the door; a surprise windfall; we become ill; a disaster happens; God turns up.
The above scripture is a divine encounter for a bunch of misfits. In 2016 when I was trekking to Annapurna Base Canp in Nepal, as we came close to the base camp we saw shepherds and sheep feeding freely on the mountains. This was unusual as sheep are not common in Nepal. The shepherds were young men who filled their time playing volley ball and soccer. They were accompanied by a few shaggy dogs. It was a delightful experience. The hills reminded me of the moors in Scotland.
Our Heavenly Father announced to birth of His Son to such a group. They had nothing to give Him, except their worship. I love the song Gratitude because it speaks to this exact same position.
I am about to attend a Christmas Eve service and do just that: give my worship. Keep Him in focus! Amen!
