Different parts and gifts

“The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬-‭10‬, ‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In the above gifts and parts are mentioned. A part seems to be a functioning role. Much like a motor part. Each part can best function as the part for the purpose it was made. The gifts are given for a need at the time. I have functions in most of the gifts, but I cannot isolate only one as mine, they are not mine they belong to the Holy Spirit. He gives them as the need arises, whereas we seem to be given parts more permanently.

For example I have faith and use it constantly but have had moments when the gift of faith was given me for a set purpose, I’ve had other times when I knew the gift was absent. I pray in tongues regularly but cannot say I have functioned in the gift of tongues often.

My part in the body of Christ is recognised by the body of Christ. Unfortunately many go around with a critical spirit claiming it to be a discerning spirit, and the function of a part. The is a big difference between the two. One is inspired by hell itself, the other by the Holy Spirit for the good of the church, it is not a permanent part.

All is for the good of the body of Christ, not to tear it apart. Amen!
