“If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”Mark 3:25 HCSB
This was probably a saying in Jesus’ day. He used many current and relevant sayings and scripture in His teaching. We could apply this to our own houses, homes, churches, offices, governments etc.
Jesus was referring to the accusation made against Him that he worked under the devil’s power. He refuted that as stupid. Why would Satan have Him cast our evil spirits, it was against his (Satan’s) agenda.
There are many caustic and critical Christians who lambast pentecostal preachers for allowing the seemingly uncontrolled displays in their church services when the Holy Spirit takes over. As if we could control the Holy Spirit. The evidence of healings is enough to affirm what God is doing.
Jesus actually, in this same chapter, spoke about the danger or speaking against the Holy Spirit. As if we have been delegated the role of judge! The unforgivable sin is just that. We should be very careful about what we condemn.
It is Christians that dob other Christians in to the media for what they consider disrespectful displays. What does that tell the world?
Non-Christians are not drawn to religious bigots. I surmise that the Lord keeps His distance also.
