8 For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door. Matthew 7:8 TPT https://bible.com/bible/1849/mat.7.8.TPT There is nothing better than to find an open door and a warm room after a long freezing, wet journey. Especially when you did not expect to make it, when all hope seems lost. Life can be like that. The challenge, the arduous journey, the obstacles and the enemies in the way. We hear stories of those who have had to run from persecution, been kept in a refugee camps for years, to finally been welcomed by a warm, free  country.  We are welcomed into the kingdom of God. We never have to fear again, and as we knock in prayer, eventually all we seek is there. Amen! Don't give up!

Matthew 7:8 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.7.8.NLT When I read this verse it started me thinking. Why did Jesus use the analogy of a door in answering prayer? I knew of the reference in Revelation 3:20 which says: behold, I stand at the door knocking, if anyone opens to me I will come in and eat with him. Here is the only reference I could find of Jesus doing the knocking. All the rest were an invitation to us to pray in earnest and never give up. I reasoned that Jesus had been a carpenter,  perhaps it was a 'trade' analogy. I discovered that the word used for knock was a desperation knocking, a determined knocking. He told stories about a man who had visitors in the middle of the night and had no bread. He went to a neighbour's house and knocked asking for bread.
