Heart Service

Keep and guard your heart with all diligence and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life Prov4:23
How do we guard our hearts? The proceeding verses explain how:
  1. Avoid dishonest speech, willful and contrary talk
  2. Keep looking straight ahead, don't get distracted
  3. Consider the path before you, walk in established paths
  4. Don't turn to the right or left, avoid evil

The heart is where God dwells, while it is pure and unblocked life, His life flows freely. We are encouraged to keep it clean and unblocked.

When I dabble in any of the above my heart tells me, an alarm goes off: 'warning, warning, unclean, unclean'. Sometimes the unclean feeling lasts a while, it makes me feel like adopting monkish garb and flailing myself. Now I know that this is unnecessary that my saviour allowed sinful men to flog Him instead of me, this actually makes it worse because He is so good.

I find when I am upset by the behaviour of someone I have trouble with my speech about that person, this is something I want to change, I want the Lord to hear my grief and no-one else. He is better at keeping His mouth shut, He is reliable and will not gossip.

I manage to look straight ahead most of the time and treasure this principle, because of that it is an anchor for my soul.

Consider the path before you. This one I like. It means I don't rush on blindly but know that it IS a path and LEADS somewhere. Does it go where I want to be? wisdom shouts 'watch out!!!'

Don't turn to the right or the left. Interesting, the right is just as bad as the left, almost like the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It was God given, BUT it was NOT God.

To walk in wisdom I have to slow down on the inside. Wisdom does not rush, it is never in a hurry, it lives in Restville. Amen!
