Paper Tigers
Galatians 4:8-9 (MSG) Earlier, before you knew God personally, you were enslaved to so-called gods that had nothing of the divine about them. But now that you know the real God—or rather since God knows you—how can you possibly subject yourselves again to those paper tigers?

How can I pay a price higher than the life of the Son of God?

I am watching someone try to re-invent the sacrifice. She piles high on an altar her sacrifices to no avail. She is outside the city when the action is inside.
The sacrifice has been made once for all time and was acceptable. There is no need for sacrifice just faith and entering in to rest.
