God's Concerns not Mans

From then on Jesus began to point out to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, "Oh no Lord! This will never happen to you."
But He turned and told Peter, "Get behind Me Satan! You are an offense to me because you're not thinking about God's concerns but man's." Matthew 16:21-23

Do you ever experience a knowing that things are about to change and go a different direction?
Jesus did yet Peter did not accept the new path, He wanted his own agenda.

The Jewish faith had seen the Messiah as one who would liberate them from oppression not be killed. They did not realise that Jesus came to set them free, but from sin, sickness and disease and to re-unite them in relationship to the Father. Peter was affected by this mindset.

There are times in our lives when those who care for us, family and friends will be at odds with a decision we have made. They will want to keep us 'safe' in their own agenda yet that very same agenda would suffocate us.

Sharing the future with the disciples was tricky and obviously open to all their emotions and desire for their own way. Sharing our future with family and friends is tricky. I was taken aside last Christmas by a family member. "Why do you want to do this?" I was asked. It hurts and drains you when those you trust with your future disallow it. In fact it drains you of energy.

Even now my beautiful family are reaching out to protect me but I must walk the path that is set out before me. Granted I am not going to face what Jesus did but I have my own 'cross to carry' so to speak. I feel the wind of the Spirit and long to be where He is not where is is safe. I love to fly and fly I must.

The plans that my God has for me are to give me a future and a hope, not to hurt me. Amen!
