Interruptions

When Jesus had finished saying all this (the parables), He told His disciples, "You know that the Passover takes place after two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over and crucified."Matthew 26:1,2

While Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon, a man who had a serious skin disease, a woman approached Him with an alabaster jar of very expensive fragrant oil. Matthew 26:6

There are times when God moves on quickly. The information Jesus gave in the parables is such that you would want to sit and chew on it a while so that you could truly understand it and appropriate it.

In verse 6 we see another interruption. Jesus had gone to have lunch with Simon, who He had previously healed from leprosy and here a woman appears, in a forbidden way, and interrupts big time.

Jesus takes all the interruptions in His stride, in fact He causes them.

How did the disciples handle them? We see in verse 8 thery were not too kindly disposed to what the woman did with the oil, she poured it on Jesus' head. (I don't think it was her place to do that either)

Where do interruptions fit in our lives? I would like to suggest that the more open to them we are the more we will be able to see and understand the divine.

Jesus saw the significance of the oil and said so in verse 10-12. "By pouring this fragrant oil on me she is preparing me for my burial." In fact the woman, who we know as Mary, would be remembered. Why? She was in tune with the divine.

Mary was open to the spirit and was prompted to do something bizarre. She was bold enough to do it and suffer the consequences.

What is the Spirit of God saying to you?
