Where is Truth?

"How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?" John 5:44

Jesus was talking to the Jewish leaders, He was giving them a bible study. They had refused to accept Him as who He was. They took offense at Him for stating that God was His Father and making Himself equal with God.

If one comes into your world bearing truth you have two choices: 1) Reject that person becasue you are unwilling to change to receive the new or 2) repent and change.

Repentance takes a revelation regarding sin, without the revelation self-righteousness kicks in. Repentance is a gift offered by God, there are times when it must be sought diligently, it lives with truth.

People come into our world and they ruffle our feathers. Instead of rejecting them why not seek the Lord while He may be found and ask for His truth? Always, what is God saying? Do you want to be free or are you comfortable with your bondage?

Last night I arrived in Sydney at my brother's house, I am on my way to Tamworth for an 80th birthday party. My mother lives here at times and in Bernie Tasmania at times. Mum was telling me about another brother who lives in Tamworth. He has taken off down a path that seems dubious and I found myslef reacting and becoming annoyed with my brother.

As I come before the Lord I remind myself that I usually do not accept the opinion of someone about another and I had allowed myself to judge without first speaking to my brother. Foollish!

I repented and am determined to watch my heart and wait to speak to my brother directly. Another's opinion about him will always be coloured by their attitude, unless of course they themsleves had taken the matter to the Lord, which had not happened. Always, what is God saying?

In social settings we can be so easily influenced by those we honour without first seeking truth oursleves. I noticed this also happen when I was in Tasmania and visiting another elderly lady, she was given to gossip and was spinning her web around my heart, I had to extricate myslef and leave.

So who was giving 'truth' to the Jewish leaders? Were they nattering amongst themselves and deciding what truth was? Probably! Again and again I must come back to the word of God, What is He saying to me about a matter?

Remember where truth lies! It is not found in gossip!
