The Word

In the beginning was the Word,
And the Word was with God,
And the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning Jn 1:1,2

We could start with: "Once upon a time there was a powerful, awesome being called 'The Word.'"He shon like the sun, he hung out with God, because he was God. He spoke and wonders began, life came into darkness. The spirit rejoice and moved glory into matter.

My commentary states: 'In the beginning was the word' echoes Genesis 1; 'in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.' John indicates Jesus' existence in eternity past with God. "The word' (logos) conveys the notion of divine self-expression or speech (ps 19:1-4) God's word is effective. He speaks, and things come into being. (Gn 1:3,9; Is 55:11-12)

I like my version, it has more colour. Have you noticed how verse 2 is almost superfluous? It repreats what already has been said, giving confirmation to a truth being stated.

Now, I would like to take your thought processess somewhere close to home. 'If' He (the Word) was there in the beginning and He (the Word) was 'The Life', the source of life, then if what He said about you and me is full of miraculous power, the air around you is full of pregnant power, waiting.

Reach out into the spirit and sense what I am sensing. He, God, Life, tingles with power waiting for you to believe so that He can come into your world and create miracles, restore broken hearts, broken limbs, broken minds.

He, in all His beauty, is waiting......for you to believe in Him.

In all of us there are areas of brokenness, waiting to be restored and He, the restorer is waiting to be invited.

I think we all are asking the wrong question. He answers, but if we, in our broken blindness ask wrongly then we experience deadness. A lot of times we have to start at the heart with forgiveness and loving the unlovely.

As the Lord restores my heart the deadness leaves and I can believe that Jesus is who He says He is........'The Word', full of power.

Genesis tells me, 'in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth', that is powerful stuff.

Ready to believe?
