Release

If anyone of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone. John 8:7b

The teachers and Pharisees had just brought a woman 'caught in the act of adultery' to Jesus for judgement, they wanted to catch Him out and therefore condemn Him to death.

Jesus knew their hearts and when the woman was brought before Him He bent and wrote in the dirt. Some believe He was writing out their sins, which is highly probable.

This morning as I read this scripture I am challenged in my heart. Last night I was talking to an old friend about a mutual acquaintance who was a leader and he, in our eyes, committed adultery.

Our human nature has within it a need to lay blame, perhaps to highlight our 'righteousness' (choke! choke!).

As I accept truth if is freeing. I have no grounds to accuse others as I am human just like them. I may not do what they do but I sure have my own sins.

Set the captives free folks, release others from your judgement and watch yourself flourish. Amen!
