Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1John 3:2,3
A desire to be pure comes from really knowing the hope within us.
The more I know Him the more I want to be clean.
Hopelessness opens the door to sin.
How do we find hope?
Get to know Him.
We all watch people around us change as they fall in love. Falling in love happens as a person spends time with the object of their affection.
If I make Him the object of my affection and then spend time with Him, I see His holiness, and begin to desire His purity in my own life.
I have this hope within me, all I have to do is unpack it.
This past week I had a grandson who had in the past been aloof give me spontaneous hugs, he was saying I love you nan. My youngest granddaughter did not know me well and as a result she was distant. Yet today as I took her to the playground she ran up to me several times and hugged my leg.
We see this in our natural worlds and it is the same in the spiritual world. Our Lord loves us and wants to spend time with us. As we open up to Him we get to know how good He is and the hugs flow, then the desire to be like Him is birthed.
