How Do we Recognize Children of God?

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. 1John 3:10

Pretty straight forward and you could say blunt.

So if I fail to do what is right and follow my own gospel instead, John says I am not of God. There is no room for: 'but you do not understand, I need....'
Or there is no room to not love my brother, failing in this litmus test earns me a gong and the title: 'child of the devil.'

It seems I am either 'of God' or 'of the devil'. These comments are made about church folk not unsaved folk.

I think the time has come for us 'followers of Christ' to cop it sweet and accept truth as truth.

My Lord must be my 'Lord' and not my badge I put on when it suits and remove when I want to 'have a little fun'.

I am so grateful that electricity and light bulbs do not have choice. Imagine the light bulb saying, 'sorry I am having a night off to have a little fun, in the dark, find your own light.'

Yet we expect the world to find it's own truth and solve it's own problems without the key ingredient, 'the light' of which we are custodians.

I'd say we have a little answering to do to the Lord. Remember the master who came for what was his and the wicked servants thought they were beyond reach and killed his son? What did Jesus say the master was going to do to the servants?

How arrogant to assume we have done God a favour because we go to church or given a little. Jesus said 'he who is given much, from him much is expected.' The word does not lie.
