Blessed is the man you discipline, oh Lord;
And whom You teach out of Your law,
To give him rest from the days of trouble,
Until a pit is dug for the wicked. Psalm 94:12,13
Discipline is not just commands and instruction. A lot of people, when they read the above passage would think 10 commandments style stuff, ground opening and swallowing people whole or harsh discipline.
Yesterday I babysat my grandchildren for the day. I was aware that I must bring discipline at times and there was an instance. I thought my problem would come from the youngest but the opposite transpired.
As I have witnessed how the parents discipline and the effect this has I knew as a grandparent what I must do.
I knew I could not force the discipline as my granddaughter is too big to carry, however I calmly carried out a discipline that was effective.
I also spoke to her heart about who she really was and what would happen to her, the girl inside, if she stayed like she was in unrepentance (I did not use big words). She heard and repented.
The Lord has my ear, because He loves me. I have my granddaughter's ear because I love her and she knows it.
As my granddaughter walks in obedience she stays soft and lovely inside. As I walk in obedience the same applies.
Obedience brings cleanliness and protection. Try it! It works!
