For forty years I loathed that generation and said, 'they are a people who go astray in their hearts, and they have not know my ways.'
'therefore I have sworn in my wrath, they shall not enter my rest.' psalm 95:10,11
In the Old Testament, God's people showed how they had a heart for their own pleasure and fleshly appetites. Without a savior they were doomed.
In the New Testament we are given a way, Christ!
We are now able to make a choice: Christ and His sacrificial redemption or or our own efforts or non-efforts.
What is the rest God is speaking about? Is it a holiday, time out or is there something more?
In Hebrews chapters 3 and 4 the author discusses this rest and the importance of not missing it.
The rest that we can enter is a rest from labour. It sounds like a holiday but it is more, a state of being. As I wait on Him, I can rest in His promises, his word, His power that is mighty to save.
I cannot save my family and friends, He is their savior, not me. I am His witness.
Reinhard Bonnke talks about the attributes of a witness. Sometimes the witness is the victim of heinous crimes against human nature, they are the evidence. By their trust in the Lord and faithfulness they smack the truth home to the perpetrators.
Again, today we have a choice: Christ and redemption or self and the results that the Old Testament portrays.
Personally I am not into rejection by the one who holds eternity in His hands.
