The Third Day
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women who had been there at the Crucifixion came to the tomb, bringing spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
"Why are you looking for the living among the dead?"asked the men. "He is not here, but He has been resurrected! Remember how He spoke to you when He was in Galilee, saying, 'the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day?" and they remembered His words. Luke 24:1-3; 5-8
The women thought is was just the first day of the week, the beginning of another week, but this time without the light of their lives, Jesus. However, they were in for a shock. They found Him gone and in His place angels to clarify what had happened.
Better than the first day, was the news of the Third Day, the day Christ rose from the dead. Suddenly life became more than they dreamed. Jesus' words came back. He had risen from the dead. This meant more, how much more they did not know but here was a miracle, Jesus had done what He said He would do. He defeated death, Himself and was alive.
Suddenly all Christ had taught began to realign into the truth they had not quite understood before, now something new was beginning.
so if Jesus died and rose again, what does this mean for me? For me He is more than a man, a good man at that. No one I know has died and brought themselves back to life. This is power indeed. Did He do it just to show off? No! There was deeper magic, greater power!
He bought us back, set us free from an eternity of separation from Himself and the Father. Set us free from the power of sin, if we choose to take His gift.
I am in! What about you?
