Loved as I Am

When The Lord first spoke to Hosea the prophet, He said to him: ' go and marry a promiscuous wife and have children of promiscuity, for the land is committing blatant acts if promiscuity by abandoning the Lord'. Hosea 1:2

Fancy being told to enter into such heartache! Knowing that you will love an unfaithful wife.

Gomer, the woman Hosea marries bears him three children but because of her promiscuity their parentage was questionable.

Why did God command Hosea to do this? God was wanting to speak to His people, His unfaithful wife, through Hosea.

The pain that Gomer caused Hosea God's people were causing Him.

Today we have a saviour, Jesus Christ, who is interceding for us. Do we cause Him pain?

Scripture talks about us crucifying Christ again by our behaviour.

If I have Christ in my life I have all the power of God to overcome and to be seated in heavenly places with Him.

If I reject His gift of grace, determining to earn salvation, I throw the suffering He did for me in His face.

What love He had for me that He chose to die in my place. What grace He has for me by rising from the dead and inviting me to sit with Him, in His rest.

I do not deserve His love, but I have it anyway. I am grateful! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
