Blessing Others
Solomon and all of Israel with him- a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt-observed the festival at that time in the presence of The Lord our God, seven days, and seven more days-14 days.
On the fifteenth day he sent the people away. So they blessed the king and went home to their tents rejoicing and with joyful hearts for all the goodness that The Lord had done for His servant David and for His people Israel. 1kings 8:65,66
22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep were slaughtered and offered to The Lord in sacrifice. This then became a large state funded national festival. Two weeks of fellowship, worship and celebration ensued. No wonder the people were happy.
2 Chronicles 7:1-3 tells us that fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings and the sacrifices, even The Lord enjoyed Himself.
Solomon was establishing good and sound practices, he did his best in establishing the temple. He chose the best wood and stone, he overlaid the wooden walls with gold, he filled the temple with precious things. No expense was spared. The labourers were the foreigners in the land whereas his people had important roles. He knew how to honour and. Was lease in dealing with the people.
A land rejoices under a good leader. Solomon had peace with his neighbours. He married the Pharaoh's daughter, probably to keep the peace.
Wisdom with dealings with others gives us peace. Employing frustration and anger only causes enemies, I know, I have done both and know which I prefer.
Honouring those God has given us is important. When people are honoured they are at peace with you.
I have a manager who constantly thanks me because I answer his emails and give feedback. Communication is important. Honour others and respect their place and you will be blessed. Amen!
