Levels of Repentance
When Ahab hear these words (the judgement of The Lord for killing Naboth), he tore his garments, put sackcloth over his body, and fasted.he lay down in sackcloth and walked around subdued. Then the word of The Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite: " have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? I will not bring the disaster during his lifetime, because he has humbled himself before Me."
1 kings 21:27-29
Ahab's repentance was shallow yet God accepted his attempt. Judgement still came to Ahab's family, in his son's lifetime.
If God has regard for a shallow attempt at righteousness how much more will He consider a righteous man's repentance. God loves repentance. It is His gift to us. He enables us to become right with Him. Why? Because He so values our relationship. We really don't grasp the depth, height and breadth of His love. His love is genuine, when ours is fickle.
The value we receive from repentance is determined by how closely we interface with it. If we really grasp it, totally, then we really experience a great restoration. He is so good!
Pursue repentance and righteousness because then your fellowship will be sweet. Don't settle for shallow, go deep. Amen!
