Simeon

There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking forward to Israel's consolation, an the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he saw the Lord's Messiah. Guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple complex. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform for Him what was customary under the law, Simeon took Him in his arms, praised God, and said:
"Now, Master, You can dismiss Your slave in peace, as you promised.
For my eyes have seen Your salvation, You have prepared it in the presence of all peoples -
A light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory to Your people Israel."
His father and mother were amazed at what was being said about Him. Then Simeon blessed them and told His mother Mary: "Indeed, this child is destined to cause the fall and rise of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be opposed- and a sword will pierce your own soul- that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. Luke 2:25-35

Simeon had waited all His life for the promise given to him, that he would see the Messiah before he died. Abraham waited for about 25 years as the promise of a son was being perfected in him. David was anointed King a good 20-30 years before he became king. How did all these saints cope with the wait?

We do not know about Simeon but we do have scripture to show the way for Abraham and David. David went through agonising times of losing his best friend, his wife and his children. Then he was threatened with stoning by his followers because they also lost their families. What did he do? He went to The Lord and inquired what to do. He strengthened himself in The Lord. The very next thing that happened when had taken the families back was he became king.

Has God made a promise to you that has been a long time coming? Have you been bruised and crushed like David and threatened with losing your life? Then you are in good company.

Hebrews tells us of our life being like a race with the saints of old watching on and cheering us on. We need to keep in the word so that our perspective remains Godly.

Today I downloaded a beautiful worship song and as I listened and entered worship I began to see all that is mine in Christ.  I saw what He sees. Worship if full of promise and as we worship we release our God to do great exploits on our behalf. Worship changes things.

Simeon worshipped God and he began to prophesy over Christ. As we worship we can prophesy to our world and call things that are not to be, this is exactly what our God does.

Live in Him and allow Him to be God. Build your spiritual house out of the word of God and see things change. Amen!
