In Spirit and Truth
But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23,24
There is one reason you cannot make an image of God, He is spirit. However, by coming to earth Jesus gave us a human likeness to refer to. He was God in the flesh, the word made flesh.
Yet, in the above scripture we are told what the Father is looking for, people who worship Him in spirit and in truth. What does that look like?
I will explain by digressing. Mankind want to travel into space and believe to do so efficiently they need to travel at the speed of light. There are a few problems around this, according to Einstein: as you travel at the speed of light your mass doubles and time slows down.
Time slowing down would not be too much an issue but doubling in mass would. I imagine that past the speed of light your body would explode, so to speak and become loose particles not held together by form.
When we seek to do the impossible within the constraints of what we know there are problems. Yet I know my God exists on another plane, the spirit realm, where there is no form, just presence.
Therefore I cannot lock Him down to what my earthly form is constrained to. He is outside time, He is in a realm where there are no boundaries, where all things are possible, the realm of all possibilities.
If I learn to operate in His realm then when I worship Him, I worship Him in spirit and in truth. Note AND IN TRUTH. If truth is held in the realm of the spirit then that is where life is, answers exist, where He lives, where I must find my life. Amen!
I know the Holy Spirit as presence and for me to sense Him it is as if He collects His presence together and touches me, yet He is spirit.
To go into the spirit in prayer, it is almost as if I go through an unseen door and walk with Him, in His world, yet praising Him for what I see in my world, praying for what I see in my world. I straddle both, in other words. I am His ears, His mouth and His hands.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Amen!
