Ordinary People

Now that same day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. Together they were discussing everything that had taken place. And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus a himself came near and began to walk along with them. Luke 24:13,14

Again Jesus bothers to appear to two disciples walking along a road. He comes to open their eyes to the truth about Himself in scripture. They are prevented from recognising Him until the very end when they eat together and He breaks bread just like He did at the last supper.

They did not get it. Yet Jesus cared that they did get it. Ever felt like Jesus would not bother with you because you are not a star performer, a saint, a dedicated one? Have you not seen how ordinary the disciples were? They would constantly not get the message, bicker and fight over who was the greatest, when none were really great, lose the plot, want to condemn those who failed to get it when they did not get it themselves.

Now, feel better? You are in good company. It is not about your ability to be great but your willingness to allow our God to be great in you. In other words less self-effort and more faith effort. God delights in broken, worn out, has been vessels and wants to make them new by ahis power and loving greatness.

You are blessed and highly favoured by God, you are loved beyond measure, you are cherished. Praise God! Amen!
