Pump out the Praise

Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to The Lord. They said:
I will sing to The Lord
For he is highly exalted;
He has thrown the horse and it's rider into the sea.
The Lord is my strength and my song,
He has become my salvation,
This is my God, and I will praise Him,
My father's God, and I will exalt Him.
The a lord is a warrior,
Yahweh is His name.
Lord, who is like You among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Revered with praises, performing wonders?
You stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed them
You will lead the people You have redeemed with Your faithful love;
You will guide them to Your holy dwelling with Your strength. Exodus 15:1-3; 11-13

Years ago we used to sing scripture in song and one of the songs was a vivacious rendition of the first part of the scripture above. The song moved at a pace of galloping a horse but we enjoyed it, much like the mullet haircut. It had a season.

However these verses epitomise all I would like to say. On victory we exult God's praises, we bubble and overflow with joy.

We need to do this more often. He is worthy and just because we can't see what He sees, the victorious end, we grumble and lose gratitude. We will see this a lot more with the Israelites. Their God delivers them victoriously and then when they don't have what they want they complain. Lack of gratitude or lack of depth of gratitude is evident.

Today I was prompted to say thank you to an indoor staff member by sending a Red Balloon certificate (an Aussie online gift provider) he performed outstanding service and I am grateful. As I don't receive much gratitude I think if I keep pumping it out I will flood the air and it has to come back. Not that this is a good motivation and generally it isn't, I am taking an opportunity to note how lacking gratitude is in our world.

Praise is also in short supply so let's determine to look for avenues to praise. Today I phone my grandson for his birthday and sang to him. A man overheard me and asked if I would call him on his birthday and sing to him. I wonder why? Perhaps it is so lacking, thoughtfulness, that is.

Today I saw a Facebook post from a friend about how we live in a 'less' world. Wireless, fearless, thankless, vision less, gratitude less, etc. if this is the case then heart is starved for more. Let's give it! Amen!
