Wise Behaviour
Do not misuse the name of The Lord your God, because The Lord will not leave anyone unpunished who misuses His name. Exodus 20:7
Imagine going into a town where you were unknown and wanting to rent and buy provisions. If a prominent man in that town took a liking to you and gave you a letter saying he stood behind all you did and would go guarantor for you how would you treat this favour? If you thought little of his generosity and used his name carelessly, he would come and remove that priveledge from you. yes?
Our God, and all He is, has been given to us who believe. To attempt to walk in our old sinful flesh and thrown His precious name around would make Him and us look foolish. He, therefore, would quietly back away and we would find ourselves like the emperor without any clothes. (Short story by Hans Christian Andersen)
Foolishness boasts loudly, it runs headlong into disaster, it ignores sound teaching and is emotionally driven. I watch this in action again and again. To attempt to live as a Christian without tuning in to God's voice is foolishness. To assume that I am a Christian and following my emotions is faith is also foolishness.
Wisdom is precious, a godly trait and is not found easily. Wisdom is worth seeking and it is hidden in the bosom of our God. It is not available to the foolish, only to the wise who seek Him early, before speaking and acting, is it available.
The wise know how precious is their God and how precious is his name. Only the wise bother to seek Him and cherish His company. Be wise!
