Remember Him, Don't Forget
When the Lord brings you into the land He swore to your fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that He would give you- a land with large and beautiful cities that you did not build, houses full of every good thing that you did not fill them with, wells dug that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant- and when you eat and are satisfied, be careful not to forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. Fear Yahweh your God, worship Him, and take your oaths in His name. Do not follow other gods, the gods of the people around you, for the Lord your God is a jealous God. Deuteronomy 6:10-15
From reading scripture we know the people did indeed forget and follow other gods. They did this while with Moses and the Lord's presence in a cloud, through sexual promiscuity.
When they entered their own land the people there worshipped foreign gods, gods of the flesh. God's law was strict and demanding faithfulness, the other religions allowed licentious behaviour and allowed living to please themselves, as long as they sacrificed their babies, their children and were unfaithful to the Lord.
What gods do we encounter today? The biggest is self. We have come to not fear gods or powers that we do not see and live for our own self-indulgence. When things go wrong we squeal and blame God, because He should support our desires to live as we please, we resent Him and others who do not support our vision, then we are unhappy and become sick, we resent all the more and become sicker.
Some parts of our world worship Allah, Buddha and a plethora of other gods and are genuinely captured in fear or religious zeal. The truth about Christ sets these people free.
When Christ sets us free from our fears and our sins He asks that we live for Him, love Him and build a relationship with Him. Yesterday we celebrated His sacrifice and the price He paid for us. He paid that price so that we would join His Kingdom, not serve ourselves. He is the one who heals, delivers, provides, blesses but best of all Loves. He loves to have us love Him in a divine relationship that will last for all eternity. As we love Him He comes to reside with us, we have His presence in our lives, He brings His peace and contentment. treasures indeed!
Get to know His presence and fight to keep it above all else. We fight to keep our cars, our homes, our health, why not His presence. First find His presence, there is a Presence conference in Sydney starting next week, hosted by C3 Church, why not take the time to find His presence and never let it go. Amen!
