Confession and Forgiveness
Early in the morning, as they were passing by, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. Then Peter remembered and said to Him, "Rabbi look! The fig tree that You curses is withered."
Jesus replied to them, "have faith in God. I assure you: if anyone says to this mountain, "Be lifted up and thrown into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
Therefore I tell you, all things you pray and ask for- believe that you have received them, and you will have them.
And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your father in heaven will also forgive your wrongdoing. ( But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your wrongdoing.) Mark 11:20-26
Confession is important. What I confess I get. If my confession is full of faith them I will have whatever I confess in prayer. Conversely if I pray victim prayers I stay a victim, not a good place to be.
Right after teaching on faith Jesus talks about forgiveness. I forgiveness interferes with faith and hinders personal forgiveness.
If I fail to forgive others then I am not seen through Christ by the Father but set myself apart from His grace by establishing myself as a judge. This is the function of God the Father. By judging I am in opposition to grace and His kingdom principles and therefore outside of grace. Ouch!
So then what shall we do? Firstly keep a clean slate with the sins of others and then stand in faith before the Father so that whatever I pray is heard and honored. A good place to be!
How blessed am I when I am right where I should be, in the middle of His will. Amen!
