Who Am I?
Jesus went on with His disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the road He asked His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" They answered Him, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, one if the prophets."
"But you," He asked them again, "Who do you say that I am?"
Peter answered Him, "You are the Messiah!" And He strictly warned them to tell no one about Him. Mark 8:27-30
The opinion about who Jesus was was widely held, in fact this opinion is where the disciples started. At first He was teacher, now He was Messiah.
Confession that Jesus was the Messiah did not make the disciples on the same page as Jesus, it merely meant they were close.
Traditional views about the Messiah saw Him a a conquering Messiah, liberating Israel from their oppressors.
He was liberating all Israel from their oppressors but not the ones they had their sights on.
As Christians we may accept Jesus as saviour but few allow Him to be Lord of all. They may allow Him lordship in one corner but not in another. Therefore His Holy Spirit works with us, brining us to truth and helping us with the yielding process. We cannot yield unless we see or understand the truth. The Holy Spirit brings truth to us. This is one of His tasks.
I can assist by keeping soft and learning to yield. This I do by seeking The Lord,
spending time in His presence, reading His word. Amen!
Jesus said of Himself, "I am meek and humble, learn from Me." When I think on this I hit a wall of truth. Wow! It feels like a huge wall of love inconceivable, a pure place, a light place full of life, life like I have never know it. This life I live I live by the grace of the Son of God not my own cleverness or even stumbling.
The Son of God is meek and humble. This begs me to chew on this, mull it around, let it settle into my spirit and bring new life.
