The Message of the Cross

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is God's power to us who are being saved. For it is written:
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the experts. (Is 29:14)
Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made the world's wisdom foolish? For since, in God's wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached. 1Corinthians 1:18-21

The message of accepting Christ by confessing our sins and inviting Him into our hearts seems to simple, but there is only one way and that is His way.
We can place our trust in our worlds, which we have created, only to watch it fall like a house of cards. When it falls we are not able, in out own strength, to stop that fall. It is the story of the man or woman who builds their house on sand instead of a rock. Only a rock can withstand the storm, sand flies away. Building our lives on Jesus Christ is like building our lives on a rock.

I am grateful that He saved me when I was 19, I was hungry for Him. I now talk to people who are older and they doubt they could invite Christ into their lives, or they have Him just where they want Him, where He does not ask them to change: 'I believe in you but you stay on the shelf. I will not go to church and learn about you or worship you, be satisfied with my belief in you.' The devil believes and attends church but the man or woman who truly believes is owned by their Christianity, the Spirit of Christ indwells them and their lives tell the story of His presence in their lives; it is not a story of self but a story of His power out working in their lives.

The storms come and test our worlds: are they still standing after it has passed? Or is our world devastated?

Storms are important. Welcome them knowing He is your rock and strength. Amen! Let them show you your need, and fix it.
