Consecration
Joshua told the people, "Concecrate yourselves because the Lord will do wonders among you tomorrow." Joshua 3:5
Consecration to these people meant washing their clothes and abstinence of sexual relationship (Ex 19:10-15). I began to wonder what concrecration to us Christians would be. The actual word 'Concecrate' does not come up in the New Testament a word search of the bible. Interesting!
As we move out into a new experience in God we would spend time in prayer and wait on God for His direction. We would seek Him more and prepare ourselves to step out in faith. Myself I wait to hear from Him in some way, in my spirit, through the scriptures or a word from God through another person. Sometimes all I have was the initial direction to go and a sense to trust.
I suppose these people had moved to a place of preparation, they were waiting on God to go before them, they were having to use their faith that He would come through this time, once again, they were waiting for a word to proceed from Joshua.
The key difference is a Christian knows they are righteous before God and He is going before us because of His love and His righteousness. I do not have to carry out any ritual before moving out in God, all I have to do is trust Him. Yes, to do this I must be prepared but I cannot add to the gift of righteousness He has given me, I must trust in Him. Amen!
Constantly we are tested on this. Constantly He is all we need. Constantly He is faithful! Amen!
