Challenged to Stand
When Haman saw that Mordecai was not bowing down or paying him homage, he was filled with rage. And when he learned of Mordecai's ethnic identity, Haman decided not to do away with Mordecai alone. He planned to destroy all of Mordecai's people, the Jews, throughout Ahaserus's Kingdom. Esther 3:5,6
What a horrible man Haman was. He was an Agagite, a descendant of the people asking Saul was supposed to have destroyed. It is possible that Haman was from Saul's line. Whatever the reason Mordecai recognised Haman for what he was and did not respect him.
It is unfortunate that Mordecai chose not to respect Haman and cause all of his people to be marked for slaughter. However, we do not know hat this was not a God thing, His plan to show Himself strong for His people, do a work in the king's heart and bring Ester to maturity in who she really was.
Esther represents many Christians, and myself at times. We fail to stand up for who we are. At present the same sex debate is challenging many Christians as to where they stand. They have been unwilling to confront the issues. Failure to stand up and be counted will see many adopt the mark of the humanistic movement, now becoming a church of belief. To me this represents a mark of the beast. Constantly we are faced with a call to stand for our Christianity. If we fail to stand then by default we adopt the secular view, humanism. We must be careful to wash out the stains from our garments as Jesus is returning soon, for His bride.
