Do We Recognise Him?
Then they were all amazed, so they began to argue with one another, saying, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him."
News about Him then spread throughout the entire vicinity of Galilee. Mark 1:27,28
Jesus had just cast out a demon from a man, whilst in the synagogue. Yes they were amazed, but then they began to argue. What did they argue about? That a man with a demon was in church in the first place? That the Messiah might be among them? But why argue about that, unless He did not fit with what you thought He should be like?
When God chooses to move among us, it will not be textbook style, He may even disrupt our peace, our order. He may even cause things to happen that we would want to control. Because of the extremes that some experience control is the order of the day. But, what if it wasn't weird people doing the manifesting, unless a demon was involved, but in fact it was God. What now? How many people can you escort off the premises?
In fact, in a really powerful move of God darkness would be the first to leave, but then what? Would you welcome the presence of God in the way He chose to come?
If I say the Holy Spirit is important to me and that I want to give Him room to move, how much is enough? Would I freely abandon my rules for Him?
I pray I am soft enough to hear His footsteps and recognise Him. Amen!
