Hospitality and Others

Let brotherly love continue. Don't neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it. Remember the prisoners, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily. Hebrews 13:1-3

Do we still know how to do this? It is saying brotherly love. Last night I cooked up something different and took a photo and sent to my natural sister. It is not usually like me as I normally think it trivial, but she liked it. I am on Facebook and the times I actually post something about me are the times my friends come alive and like my post. It can be something so insignificant, it amazes me. TD Jakes put up a post in which he was holding his phone camera at arms length to get started and then hand to someone, I presume his wife, and them film an invitation to watch his service. I thought it very funny that he showed his human side, the older person trying to do a selfie, I wrote to him and said he was funny. I love his preaching but by doing what he did I thought he was funny and approachable.

Some of us can be so reserved behind our house walls and need to loosen up and invite our church family in. I try and invite people over every Sunday lunch as I want to be hospitable and get to know my church family. However, the times the offers reciprocated are very few. It got me wondering if there was anything wrong with me, seriously.

There have been times when I wondered if the kindness I have show to a person was to an angel, only God knows, so I'lI be hospitable anyway.

Now, remembering prisoners: we see so much on the news about the refugees escaping Syria and the inhospitable way some countries treated them. I know Australia has been inhospitable to refugees, saying they want to know if they are genuine refugees first. The problem the boat people have is their passports are often stolen or destroyed and they cannot be identified. I often think if I was in their shoes how would I feel? Neglected or loved?

We need to identify with those who suffer and ask the Lord, "Waht would you have me do?"
