The Perfect High Priest
For every high priest taken from men is appointed in service to God for the people, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he was also subject to weakness. Because of this he must make a sin offering for himself as well as for the people. No one takes the honour on himself; instead, a person is called by God, just as Aaron was. In the same way, the Messiah did not exalt Himself to become a high priest, but the One who said to Him, 'You are My Son; today I have become Your Father,' and also said in another passage, 'You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.' Hebrews 5:1-6
Both references quoted above come from Psalms. Jesus' thread was there and speaking about the One to come. Aaron was an imperfect high priest, building a golden calf for the Israelites so they could worship it. He was a foolish man, yet God used him. I wonder if he had a little grace because of Moses his brother or the prayers of Moses?
At my aunts funeral on Thursday I witnessed the Catholic priest being that in between person. The Catholic Church still maintains the priest between God and man. In my case, growing up, the priest was a blockage. When I found Christ for myself I knew instant repentance and forgiveness. I did not need a confessional any more.
Oh how grateful I am to have found my saviour and now know Him personally. What a perfect high priest. I know, in Him, perfection, sinlessness, faithfulness, purity. Thank You Lord! Amen!
My God is so good! I am so grateful! Thank You Lord!
