The Glory of God

In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and His robes filled the temple. Seraphim were standing above Him: each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet and with two he flew. And one called to another:
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth. Isaiah 6:1-3

The actual text says the seam of His robe, not His robe. That is huge! The fact that this telling of what he saw is more factual than emotional surprises. The telling bears no surprise, exclamation. Perhaps this is more like when you receive an email, you interpret it in the way you would have sent it and sometimes you and I are very wrong in the interpretation.

Later in verse 4 there is language of expression and emotion, maybe he was having a delayed reaction. I do these well, or I should say, at times I do these well, sometimes not.

The Seraphim covering their faces and feet seem to indicate veneration and submission.

I have long wondered why they would never become bored at doing just this forever, as I have not seen the Lord as He is here, I am yet to know this experience. The Lord is never boring and there is so much new every morning we can only wonder what it would be like, but they love Him and see Him as holy, holy, holy, completely holy to the core.

I think we, more I, could do with a dose of the bigness of God, the holiness of God, the majesty of God. In other words a reality check! Jesus came that we might know the Father but the only times we see Him as God is in the transformation and when He rose from the dead, yet He is still very relatable and God in the flesh.

Lord, who us Your glory! Amen!
