My Way or the Mountain Way?
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and who depend on horses! They trust in the abundance of chariots and in the large number of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel and they do not seek the Lord's help. But he is also wise and brings disaster. He does not go back on what He says; He will rise up against the house of wicked men and against the allies of evildoers. Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the Lord raises His hand to strike, the helper will stumble and the one who is helped will fall; both will perish together. Isaiah 31:1-3
The Lord was really cross that His people persisted in going to Egypt for help, when He had His hands open wide. All they had to do was repent and acknowledge He was God and capable of saving them, but they wouldn't.
Are we so stubborn? Do we insist on doing things our way? What are the consequences?
In my youth we were taught the mountain principle. We learned it from the children of Israel. The trip to the promised land should have only taken a few days but it took them years as they repeatedly refused to submit, and refused God's ways. They went round and round the mountain in the wilderness instead of into the promised land. So, when we go round and round the mountain, we are being stubborn in insisting we want to do things in our own understanding and in our own ways.
God has a perfect plan. He knows how to pay that bill, He knows how to solve that problem. You wanting to run off in your own understanding will waste time and hurt a little. Why not wait for Him? He is testing you, wait for Him! Amen!
