The Sacrifice
He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth; when He was reviled, he did not revile in return; when He was suffering, He did not threaten but entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly. He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness; you have been healed by His wounds. For you were like sheep going astray, but you have now returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. 1 Peter 2:22-25
Jesus trusted the One who judges justly and died for our sins. It seems that such a perfect creature should not suffer for the worst, but He did. How is that just? Our problem is, we are born into sin and have a sin nature. We are incapable of being acceptable to God on our own terms, yet relationship is what we both long for. We had a problem that needed a solution. The solution needed a perfect answer, a sinless answer.
Jesus, chose to come, because He is sinless and chose to pay the price, death on a tree, so that we who were eternally doomed could come home. A very just and noble answer was given, a perfect sacrifice was made.
For centuries animals were being slaughtered and never enough for the sin nature that remained. Something had to be done and something was done. The King chose to die for the slave. A perfect answer. Amen!
Thank You Lord!
