Compassion
Soon afterwards He was on His way to a town called a Nain. His disciples and a large crowd were travelling with Him. Just as He neared the gate of the town, a dead man was being carried out. He was his mother's only son, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the city was also with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said, "Don't cry." Then He came up and touched the open coffin, and the pallbearers stopped. And He said, "Young man, I tell you, get up!"
The dead man sat up and began to speak, and fear came over everyone, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has risen among us," and "God has visited His people." This report about Him went throughout Judea and all the vicinity. Luke 7:11-17
Compassion heals! As God's people we can ask Him for His heart of compassion and lay hands on the sick. Every time I have sensed God's compassion for a person I endeavour to pray for them and I have seen miracles. Today I am seeking more miracles for the lost.
God has compassion on widows, orphans, slaves, the poor but he also has compassion on those who are poor in spirit. The injured, both rich and small, are vulnerable and more open to God when they are in need. We can only offer. When the Holy Spirit is present things happen.
I have prayed many times for my mother and God has answered my prayer, however, there have been times when, for whatever reason, mum has been resistant and I cannot pray.
Compassion will not force itself, it is full of grace and mercy. Once received it heals bodies, souls and spirits, but it has to be received.
Compassion is only limited by us, the giver can limit it by lack of faith and so can the receiver. The challenge is to be open.
Compassion is a beautiful gift, full of love, life, health, generosity, forgiveness, mercy and grace.
Today's challenge is to obtain compassion for others, to give away of course. Go be a blessing!
