The Cry

"My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me? Why ar emou so far from my deliverance and from the words of My groaning?"
"But I am a worm and not a man, scorned and despised by people. Everyone who sees Me mocks Me; they sneer and shake their heads; 'He relies on the Lord; let Him rescue him; let the Lord deliver Him, since He takes pleasure in Him.'"
"Do not be far from Me, because distress is near and there is no one to help. Many bulls surround Me; strong ones of Bashen encircle Me, they open their mouths against Me- lions mauling and roaring. I am poured out like water, and all My bones are disjointed; My heart is like wax, melting within Me. My strength is dried up like baked clay; My tongue sticks to the roof of My mouth. You put Me into the dust of death. For dogs have surrounded Me, a gang of evildoers has closed in on Me; they pierce My hands and feet. I can count all My bones; people look at Me, they divide My garments among themselves, they cast lots for My clothing.
But You Lord, don't be far away. My strength come quickly to help Me. Deliver My life from the sword, My only life from the power of these dogs. Save Me from the mouth of the lion!" Psalm 22:1,6-8, 11-21

This is taken from a Psalm of David, yet Jesus is living out this Psalm, He cries out the opening verse from the cross and as we read down we see He identifies with this Psalm. Jesus lived and breathed the scriptures and when He struggled in the garden of Gethsemane in the face of His future, perhaps this Psalm was throbbing in His heart.

So much of this Psalm belongs to Jesus. Further on in verse 24: I will give praise in the congregation because of You; I will fulfill My vow before those who fear You. Again Jesus could identify, He is fulfilling His vow and through it brings praise. We the receivers of His blessing give thanks and praise for His sacrifice.

As we walk through dark distress we can identify, as our hearts cry out in travail, we connect with scripture, as we aligning our hearts and lives with scripture we walk out the truth of this word and as we come through the valley we are blessed. We are watched, we may not know who by but our lives are a witness. Amen!
