Prejudice

The apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles had welcomed God's message also. When Peter went up to Jerusalem, those who stressed circumcision argued with him, saying, "You visited uncircumcised men and ate with them!" Acts 11:1-3

The Jews had had trouble, for centuries in remaining pure towards God, not intermarrying with nations around them. Finally they had managed it but it became a bondage, an attitude towards the nations who were non-Jews.

Born again believing Jews were still caught in the prejudice that they had for the longest time. Yet God is not a God of prejudice, but inclusion in the New Testament. This must have been hard for the Jews to come to terms with. "God forever You have punished us for associating with the Gentile and now, in an instant, You have changed Your mind!" They must have thought God to have had a mental flip.

The Christian church has had its own struggles down through the ages. God would pour out His Spirit on the most unlikely people groups. It would be like the mass salvation of the Muslims today. The very people who are persecuting Christians to become Christians, and they are, slowly but surely.

Every time the church gets serious about a fresh outpouring of the Spirit it sees God move, in a new way. When I came to Christ it was the flower power generation who came in. God is already moving on a new group, how exciting!
