The Choice
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.
In fact sin was in the world before the law, but sin is not charged to a person's account when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam's transgression. He is a prototype of the Coming One. Romans 5:12-14
As the seed of Adam we were all born with the same blemish, sin. Whilst the law did not exist during the time between Adam and Moses, people still sinned in going their own way. Adam, being the first man, had the responsibility of making choices that would benefit his seed, but he didn't. He chose a path that suited him, he sided with his wife who had disobeyed God. He wilfully chose to sin. Whereas those born into the results of his choice did not wilfully choose that path, it was inevitable.
Jesus was the second Adam. He had choices. He had to be sent into the desert to be tempted by the same devil as Adam had faced. Jesus was tempted to choose for himself but instead He chose obedience, a choice that benefited all mankind.
Jesus was the Coming One. He came and bought us back from Satan, in so doing He set us before freedom. Our choice now is the freedom He brought or the path of Adam, self-will and self-satisfaction.
Now you stand before life and death, choose wisely! It lasts all eternity! Amen!
