The Future Me
But someone will say, "How are the dead raised? What kind of body will they have when they come? Foolish one! What you sow will not come to life unless it dies. and as for what you sow-you are not sowing the future body, but only a seed, perhaps of wheat or another grain. But God give it a body as He wants, and to each of the seeds its own body. Not all flesh is the same flesh; there is one flesh for humans, another for animals, another for birds, another for fish. There are heavenly bodies and earthy bodies, but the splendour of the heavenly bodies is different from that of earthly ones. There is a splendor of the sun, another of the moon, and another of the starts; for one star differs from another star in splendor. So it is with the resurrection of the dead:
Sown in corruption, raised in incorruption;
sown in dishonour, raised in glory;
sown in a natural body, raised a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body there is also a spiritual body. So it is written: 'The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit. 1Cor 15:35-45
I am going to a country that believes in reincarnation. The constant goal is to be good enough to come back in a higher level. What pressure! I am grateful that Jesus paid the price of goodness, I could never satisfy God's righteous standards, but I can rest in His work and enjoy the blessing of being a co-heir with Him. Jesus was the first born, the first fruit of the new way, the way back to the Father, in which I can now call God, Abba Father.
I love Paul's explanation of death and resurrection. We cannot dictate what our future body will be like, we can only plant the seed, our life. I know it will be a heavenly body, an incorruptible body, a body without sickness, sin or disease. Amen!
I rejoice in my future, there is no fear here. I can trust the One in whom my faith rests, He knows best. Amen!
