Seeking Wisdom

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10 HCSB

I don't hear much about people wanting to be wise these days. It is more about fun, excitement and experiences. When i was young I wanted adventure. I can say I have had that. However, I remember an old man saying to me: " You are very nieve." That very label made me want to rid myself of it and the alternative was wisdom.

How does one become wise? Well for a start you must be seeking it. The above verse indicates that true wisdom is tied up with God. Buddha spent his life seeking wisdom and was unhappy at the end of his life at not having found it. Yet people worship an inperfect man.

What does the fear of the Lord look like? Fear here represents deep respect, an acknowledgement that God is above all. Yet this respect is the beginning of wisdom. The pursuit of wisdom is the pursuit of God. Knowing Him is knowing wisdom. Along with wisdom is understanding. Understanding the how's and why's are wrapped up in God.

I belong to a group who study the stars and in astronomy there is a quest: How did it all begin? What holds everything together? Yet, knowing and accepting God as GOD over all, leads one to read the Bible and accept it as His word to us.

Seeking God is the best wisdom. Asking Him to reveal Himself to you, is wisdom. Seek Him with all your heart, mind and spirit and you will find Him. Amen!
