Born Again
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:9-10 HCSB
This morning I am challenged to five you an appraisal of the difference between believing and confessing and the 'Born Again' experience.
I grew up believing that Jesus was the Son of God. I worshipped Him from afar. I confessed Him as Lord, but did not experience Him as Lord.
Until I had a 'born again', experience was I able to truely make Him Lord. The born again experience was one Jesus Himself taught the Phariisee Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a good man, seeking God's way. He believed Jesus was sent by God. However he needed the 'nore' experience.
In John 3 Nicodemus comes to Jesus in the night to ask what more must he do to be saved. Jesus told him in verse 5:
“I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
John 3:5-8 HCSB
There are many who claim to be Christians who do not have a 'born again' experience. They fervently believe and many are caught up in religious practises but do not Know Him as a friend. Religion does that. It worships from afar. It is not relational.
Whereas the 'Born Again' experience brings you inside the house. You become family. You know your position in the family. You know you are loved. No longer do you strive to be good or loved. Peace prevails! Amen!
Try it!
