Walking in Light

Now, this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in Him. If we say, “We have fellowship with Him,” yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practising the truth. But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say, “We don’t have any sin,” we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:5‭-‬10 HCSB https://bible.com/bible/72/1jn.1.5-10.HCSB

When I walk in daylight, I know I am walking in light because I can see where I am going. Yet even in visible daylight, my heart can be in darkness. John gives us a test for walking in the light: we have fellowship with one another. When we are 'in the light' we want to gather, go to church or meet for fellowship. If we sense ourselves withdrawing we are walking in darkness of soul.

When we discover ourselves in darkness, repentance restores us to the light. Repentance cleanses us of our sin. Saying we have no sin or no need to repent shows us we might be blind to our sin. This is time to seek the Lord and ask Him direction.

To stay in darkness is not an option. Staying in darkness is not good for our souls, and we know this, so, seek the Lord. Do yourself a favour, humble yourself and ask for help. Amen!
