Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. It is so easy to have our minds bombarded with negative thoughts about others, especially if communication is not there. Although we may like good communication, some people in our world are just unable to give it. It may be totally due to a very busy schedule, them being ill or stressed to the max.
Myself, recently recovering from surgery, found myself inundated with messages from people in Nepal. Because I have come to know that this usually happens when they are stressed and needing financial support, I did not respond. I could not deal with the level of communication this would entail, and so I did not respond.
On the other side, myself needing communication from loved ones and not receiving it at times, this can also be stressful and the thoughts that no one cares is foremost.
Each of us has to deal with the fact that people will not always be available to assist in times of need. Only God is ever-present and ever ready.
We have to, therefore, guard our minds and hearts and not allow ourselves to become bitter. What is God doing in us after all?
